Movie Review: Star Trek Into Darkness
Star Trek Into Darkness is a blast to watch that's filled with spectacular visuals, fast-paced action sequences, plot twists and emotional moments. It's a summer blockbuster that's made not just for Trekkie fans, but appealing for the general audience as well.
One of the reasons that make the movie shines is the occasionally humorous character interactions that are depicted throughout the film. It's incredibly fun to watch the 'logic VS emotional' arguments between Spock & Kirk, love relationship between Spock and Uhura, conversations among the Starfleet crew such as Scotty, Bones, Hikaru...which further develops the characters. There's one particular emotional scene between Spock and Kirk, which actually brought me to tears when watching it.
However, many Trekkie fans would be quite disappointed and some might even say that it's just another alternate retelling of Wrath of Khan, which is widely considered as the best film of the old Star Trek series. But for most casual moviegoers, it is one of the best sci-fi films this year has to offer, or I might dare to say, possibly the best sci-fi action adventure of the year.
Once again, it is proven that with a smart script, great actors, solid plot and good direction will certainly produce great films that exceed expectations.
